Fritidshus Hummel
-
Bound by a strict 120m2 footprint, this eco-friendly, multi-generational summer house delivers maximum functionality through highly efficient design.
The layout balances community and privacy by dividing the space into a main family home and a secondary guest house for extended family. A central living room, glass-enclosed Orangery, and outdoor terraces bridge the two homes to create flexible gathering spaces for any weather. A third standalone cabin houses shared utility and sauna facilities.
A striking asymmetrical roofline gives the architecture its distinct character and maximises south and west exposures for solar panels to support off-grid living. Engineered for cost-effective self-building, the facades and roofs are clad entirely in corrugated Corten steel. This robust, low-maintenance material is designed to weather naturally, with its orange-red rust patina offering a modern, industrial nod to the surrounding area's traditional faluröd cabins.
